3d Studio Max is a sweet 3d graphics application from Kinetix. It's the sort of program that they might use for movies like Toy Story... but i don't know exactly what they used. Anyhoo, I don't like making animations with MAX, because of the prohibitive rendering times involved. A simple scene with no reflections or complex materials can take 10 minutes to render a 3-second animation.
On the other hand, a full-screen scene with reflections, complex geometry and layered textures (like Pagan Temple) might render in 4 minutes.
